Based on Louisa May Alcott's own family experiences (and novel), LITTLE WOMEN, follows the adventures of Jo, Meg, Beth and Amy March as they grow up in Civil War America. The beloved story of the March sisters is timeless and deals with issues as relevant today as when they were written. Now, this wonderful narrative has been brought to life as an exhilarating new musical filled with glorious music, dancing and heart. Little Women embodies the complete theatrical experience, guaranteeing a night filled with laughter, tears, and a lifting of the spirit. This powerful score soars with the sounds of personal discovery, heartache and hope -- the sounds of a young America finding its voice. In years to come, we are sure that hundreds of productions by schools and theatres throughout the world will make this stage adaptation of the American classic novel a classic musical theatre treasure in its own right. This show is Music Theatre International’s most popular new title. Pam Kragen of the North County Times writes, “The musical version of Little Women is worthy of applause. It's an earnest, well-staged and well-cast adaptation of a classic novel that deserves a hearing and good audiences.”

An Evening of One-Acts

Dates and Times: April 15 and 17 at 7pm
Venue: 8940 Union Center Boulevard, West Chester, OH 45069
Further Information: (513) 682-4115, ext. 10431
Ticket Prices: $3 for each evening

In reality there are two evenings of one-acts, each evening featuring four different short plays. Each one-act is directed by an Acting 2 student and features the burgeoning talent of Acting One. Several West Theatre stars—Chris Ray, Harry Townsley, Andrew Genskow, Jon Kovach—all appeared in One-Acts prior to making their main stage debuts. Not only do the one-acts feature the West Theatre stars on tomorrow, but they enable us to witness the directing talents of our more experienced acting students. Directors for this year are as follows: Jessica Burley, Leeza Ewashko, Melody Gay, Samantha Huffman, Jon Kovach, Alina Kraynak, Kyle McIntire, Megan McGill, and Ryan Slone. Shows have not been selected, but the directors are hard at work reading—and even writing—their plays.

Tickets are available at the door. Box office opens at 6:15pm.

Broadway Bound

A Dessert Cabaret featuring West Theatre’s finest talent

Date and Time: May 3 at 8pm
Venue: 8940 Union Center Boulevard, West Chester, OH 45069
Further Information: (513) 682-4115, ext. 10431
Ticket Prices: $10 donation, includes dessert

This event is back by popular demand after its rousing success last year. The evening features songs and dances from popular Broadway shows and may even include special guests (last year’s cabaret featured the triumphant return of West Theatre alumnae Lauren Sprague, Kyle Dexter, and Michelle von Hirschberg). The show also includes dessert after the performance. The program tentatively includes songs from Light at the Piazza, Sunset Boulevard, Sweeney Todd, and Kiss of the Spiderwoman. Since we are in the early stages of planning, we are expecting many more songs. Please check the website as the cabarets get closer to see what other songs will be featured.

One notable change from last year: The event serves a very special purpose this year—to raise funds for a new scholarship in memory of Lakota West Theatre’s first choreographer, Nancy Goodwin, who passed away in May 2007 after a long battle with breast cancer. Nancy was integral in the founding of this theatre program and was a devoted friend and teacher. West is extremely proud to offer this scholarship in Nancy’s memory. For more information about this extraordinary woman and the scholarship, please click here.

Tickets are available both at the door and from Cabaret performers. Box office opens at 7pm.
